Who we are

foddr is operated from Australia. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is written for the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What we collect (APP 1, APP 5)

• Account information: email, name, password (stored hashed), authentication tokens.
• Recipe and pantry content: recipes you create, pantry items you log, shopping lists.
• AI conversation history: chat transcripts, voice transcripts, photo extractions.
• Inferred preferences: dietary restrictions, allergens, household composition.
• Behavioural data: which stores you use, how often, recipe URLs you import.
• Payment metadata: Stripe customer ID, payment intent IDs (the actual payment info lives at Stripe).

Cross-border disclosure (APP 8)

foddr's AI features rely on third-party AI providers based in the United States:

• Anthropic: chat assistant, recipe extraction.
• OpenAI: recipe image generation.
• Groq: voice transcription.

Each provider retains your prompts and outputs under their own terms of service. Contact them directly for what's held on their side.

How we keep it safe (APP 11)

Application logs are retained for 30 days then deleted. Conversation transcripts exported for the AI memory feature are also retained for 30 days. The database itself retains your active records until you delete your account.

Backups. Data deletion is final at our database. Backups taken before deletion may contain copies of your data for up to 90 days, after which they are also purged. If a restore from backup temporarily reintroduces deleted data, we re-run the deletion within 24 hours of the restore.

Your rights (APP 12, APP 13)

• Access: visit Account → "Export my data" to download every record we hold.
• Correction: edit recipes, pantry items, and dietary profiles in the app.
• Deletion: visit Edit Profile → "Delete My Account." This cascades through the database, removes your conversation exports, and purges your uploaded images. It does not reach into the AI providers' retained prompts; contact them directly for that.
